About the job Head of Infectious Disease Unit

The Head of Infectious Disease Unit will lead an experienced team, overseeing a comprehensive clinical infectious diseases program involving consultation services for inpatients and other health facilities in Uganda and abroad, outpatient clinics, including a HIV clinic and a TB clinic. The Head of the Infectious Disease will also chair the ISHUs Infection Control Committee, cooperating with the Quality Department to prepare suitable procedures to minimize the risk of hospital infections and to ensure the correct application of the same. The Head of Unit will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills and will have a strategic vision for the role of the Infectious Disease Unit in a rapidly changing medical landscape.

Education:

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A M.Med. in Infectious Disease (or Tropical Medicine)
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners CouncilEducation and Experience profile

Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Infectious Disease or Tropical Medicine 
  • Has previous documented activities as team leaders in health sectors
  • Has previous documented management experience in healthcare facilities
  • Scientific research titles in Infectious Diseases or related sectors will be an asset.
