About the job Specialist Medical Officer of General & Oncological Surgery
The Specialist Medical Officer of General & Oncological Surgery will be mainly involved in the care and treatment of the patients within the Unit/ward, but they will also be called to contribute to the department guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Specialist autonomously performs basic surgical procedures and will assist Consultant during the most advanced procedures, to become confident with those. They report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases and procedures in the Unit. Finally, they will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in General Surgery or Oncological Surgery (or its equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- At least three (3) years of work experience in General Surgery or Oncological Surgery or related field in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital
