The Nurse Supervisor – Ward Manager of Pediatric Ward is a key member of the hospital clinical management team whose primary role is to oversee the pediatric nursing care provided in the Pediatric Ward. Has 24/7 responsibility for the clinical care of patients and operations of the unit, manages Enrolled Nurses, Assistant Nursing Officers and Nursing Officers. Plays a key role in providing care to adolescents, children and infants often collaborating with the family to address their options, problems, fears and concerns for their child. Sets and carries out policies, goals, and procedures for the department and evaluates the quality of the staff’s work. Develops reports and budgets for their ward, assures that the needs of the patients and doctors in the Pediatric Ward and associated areas are met, resulting in excellent outcomes. Serves as Acting Head Nurse as assigned. The incumbent will ensure transparency in all matters pertaining to facility.
Education and Experience profile:
- B. Sc. Degree in Nursing from recognized University / Institution.
- Registered with the Uganda Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Post Basic Diploma in Child Health Nursing preferred.
- Minimum 8 years in pediatric unit or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years as Senior Assistant Nursing Officer in Pediatrics or equivalent
