About the job Medical Imaging Technologist
As a member of the radiology team, the Medical Imaging Technologist works alongside interventional radiologists physicians and nurses. They will perform many duties during an interventional procedure. The technologist is responsible for obtaining all equipment needed for a procedure, positioning and imaging patients, resolving equipment issues, and demonstrating knowledge of human anatomy, radiation safety, interventional supplies and equipment operation. The Medical Imaging Technologist will assist in routine diagnostic and highly complex invasive neuro, cardiac and peripheral interventions. The technologist is also required to be competent in a wide variety of procedures referred by oncology, trauma, urology, gastroenterology and nephrology. The technologist must follow established protocols and guidelines for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. The technologist must maintain a smooth operational flow to ensure maximum patient volumes with consideration of patient safety. Work also includes quality control, safety, record keeping, monitoring and troubleshooting radiographic equipment.
Education and Experience profile:
- A Bachelor's degree in in Medical Imaging Technology or equivalent from a recognized University (preferred).
- Additional training and certification for specialized areas like vascular interventional imaging, body CT& MRI will be an asset.
- Registered and licensed (or meeting requirements for registration and licencing) by the Ugandan Allied Health Professional Council.
- Demonstrated professional experience of at least one (1) year in the Ugandan Healthcare System.
