About the job Head of Neurosurgery Unit
The Head of Neurosurgery Unit will lead an experienced team, overseeing a comprehensive clinical neurosurgical program involving consultation services for inpatients and other health facilities in Uganda and abroad, outpatient clinics.
The Head of Neurosurgery Unit will promote periodic meetings with Neurologists, Physiotherapists and Anesthetists to evaluate which medical and surgical procedures to adopt for the various patients, and their rehabilitation after operations.
The Head of Neurosurgery Unit will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills and will have a strategic vision for the role of the Neurosurgery Unit in a rapidly changing medical landscape. Finally, he will cooperate with the Infection Control Unit and Quality Department to prepare suitable procedures to minimize the risk of infections in the Unit and to ensure the correct application of the same.
Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med./Fellowship in Neurosurgery (or equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Neurosurgery
- Has previous documented activities as team leaders in health sectors
- Has previous documented management experience in healthcare facilities
- Has scientific research titles in Neurosurgery or related sectors
