About the job Nursing Officer of Infectious Disease

The Nursing Officer for Infectious Disease is a key member of the hospital clinical team. He / She delivers safe, competent, individualized patient centered holistic care to an optimum level, by utilizing nursing process. Assists in the management of the the Ward during the assigned shift for the clinical care of patients and operation of the unit. Plans, directs and coordinates medical and health services, sets and carries out policies, goals and procedures for the department; evaluates the quality of the staff’s work and develops reports and budgets. Assures that all doctors with patients on the unit are satisfied with the nursing care provided to their patients resulting in excellent outcomes. Serves as the Acting Nurse Supervisor during their absence.

Education and Experience profile:

  • B.Sc. degree in Nursing from a recognized Institution/University essential
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, to Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council
  • Post Basic Diploma preferred
  • Minimum 6 years as Assistant Nurse Officer in In-patient Ward 
  • At least 1 year as Nursing Officer in Infectious Disease.
