About the job Specialist Medical Officer of Cardiovascular Surgery
The Specialist Medical Officer of Cardiovascular Surgery will be mainly involved in the care and treatment of the patients within the subunit, but they will also be called to contribute to the the work in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Specialist autonomously performs surgical procedures; they report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases and procedures in the sub-unit. The Specialist will attend periodic meetings with cardiologist, other surgeons, anesthetists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the ward. The Specialist will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Vascular Surgery or its equivalent
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- At least three (3) years of work experience
