About the job Specialist Medical Officer of NICU

The Specialist Medical Officer Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is responsible for providing specialized medical care to critically ill neonates, premature infants, and newborns requiring intensive monitoring and treatment. The Neonatologist will work in the NICU team to ensure high-quality clinical care in alignment with the hospital's policies, procedures, and Joint Commission International (JCI) standards. The role demands expertise in neonatal medicine and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.

Education

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A specialization in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, with board certification in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in Neonatology

  • Proficiency in English
  • Must be concern in ethics and integrity
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven experience in handling complex neonatal cases and using advanced neonatal technologies.
