About the job Head of Endoscopy Unit
The Head of the Endoscopy Unit is responsible for the overall management, clinical leadership, and operational oversight of the endoscopy services within the healthcare facility. This role ensures high-quality patient care, compliance with safety standards, and efficient use of resources. Key responsibilities include coordinating endoscopic procedures, supervising medical and nursing staff, implementing best practices, and optimizing workflow. The Head of Unit will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support continuous improvement initiatives, staff training, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential.
Education:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine or Surgey
- A Fellowship, Phd or equivalent in Endoscopy
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
Experience:
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in internal medicine in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital
- Has previous documented activities as team leaders in health sectors
- Has previous documented management experience in healthcare facilities
- Scientific research titles in Gastroenterology or Endoscopy or related sectors will be an asset

- Excellent leadership skills including assistance and motivation of medical staff
