Specialist medical officer of ENT Unit

The Specialist Medical Officer (SMO) of ENT Unit will be mainly involved in the care of the patients admitted in the ward; they will be responsible for ENT surgical activities, including OPD Ambulatories and all surgical screening and evaluating procedures for in- and out-patients. The SMO autonomously prescribes diagnostic test and therapies; he/she reports daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. The SMO will attend periodic meetings with the Head of Unit and anesthetists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients.

The SMO will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. In addition, he/she will assist the Head of Unit to apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.

Education:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med. in ENT (or equivalent)
• Must meet the requirement for registration of the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners

Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in ENT & Maxillofacial Surgery (or equivalent)
