About the job Ophthalmic Clinical Officer
The Ophthalmic Clinical Officer provides inpatients and OPD ophthalmological consultations to patients to determine and document their health status, assessing eye acuity and prescribing eyeglasses for clients at the ophthalmology clinic. The Ophthalmic CO accurately determines patients with conditions that require senior review and appropriately refers emergency cases within 24 hours and elective cases within acceptable time. They will be actively pharmacovigilant to prevent, identify, minimize and manage drug reactions, drug errors, side effects and poisoning, overdiagnosis, over-screening, overtreatment and futile care. Finally, they will cooperate with the Infection Control Unit and Quality Department to minimize the risk of infections in the Unit and to ensure the correct application of the same.
Education and Qualification:
- Must have a Diploma in Clinical Ophthalmology or similar from a recognized Institution
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) with the Ugandan Allied Health Professionals Council
