Specialist Medical Officer of Ophthalmology

The Specialist Medical Officer in Ophthalmology will provide high-quality eye care services, including diagnosing and treating various eye conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role involves performing basic and intermediate surgical procedures, managing clinical cases, and participating in multidisciplinary team discussions. The Specialist will also contribute to training junior medical staff and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives within the ophthalmology unit.

Education and Experience profile:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med. in Ophthalmology (or its equivalent)
• Must meet the requirement for registration of the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners
• Minimum of 3 (three) years of work experience in Ophthalmology
