About the job Medical Officer of Rheumatology

The Medical Officer of Rheumatology will be involved in the care of the patients within the Rheumatology Clinic, but they will also be called to give specialistic consultation for inpatients in the wards and in Day case area under the supervision of a Consultant. They will conduct physical examinations, take patient medical histories and interpret the results of diagnostic tests. They will also cooperate to coordinate patient care with other specialists within ISHU. Participation in research activities and health data collection will be mandatory.


Education and Experience profile:

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • Can be a general practitioner, or still attending the M.Med./PhD in Rheumatology (or equivalent)
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Has less than 3 years of Hospital activity and experience in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital
