About the job Specialist Medical Officer of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit
The Specialist Medical Officer of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit will be mainly involved in the care of the patient both in the Gynecology an in the Obstetric ward, but they will be also involved in the guard shift within the L&D Suite and OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. They must be skilled in conducting physical examinations of the woman, taking patient medical histories and interpreting the results of diagnostic tests. They will also coordinate patient care with other specialists within ISHU. The Specialist Medical Officer of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit must be skilled at solving problems, communicating with others and making decisions quickly. Furthermore, compassion, respect and integrity are just some of the personal attributes required.
Education and Experience:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med./PhD in Obstetrics & Gynecology (or its equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- At least three (3) years of work experience in any field of Obstetrics & Gynecology
