Head of Ophthalmology Unit

The Head of Ophthalmology Unit will lead an experienced Medical team, overseeing a comprehensive clinical ophthalmological program involving consultation services for inpatients and other health facilities in Uganda and abroad, and outpatient clinics.

The Head of Unit will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills and will have a strategic vision for the role of the Ophthalmology Unit in a rapidly changing medical landscape. Finally, the Head of Unit will cooperate with the Infection Control Unit and Quality Department to prepare suitable procedures to minimize the risk of infections in the Unit and to ensure the correct application of the same.

Education and Experience profile:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med. in Ophtalmology (or equivalent)
• Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Ophtalmology
• Has previous documented activities as team leaders in health sectors
• Has previous documented management experience in healthcare facilities
• Has scientific research titles in Ophthalmology or related sectors
