The Head Nurse of Imaging and Nuclear Medicine provides essential clinical, operational, and strategic leadership within the imaging and nuclear medicine departments. As the units key managerial leader, this role is responsible for setting high standards of nursing care, driving departmental efficiency, and ensuring a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence in patient-centered care. The Head Nurse will manage nursing operations across diverse imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, PET, and nuclear medicine, and is tasked with optimizing patient flow, enhancing quality assurance, and leading a skilled team of nurses and support staff. This position requires a proactive approach to staff development, operational improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration, ensuring that the department meets regulatory standards and delivers outstanding service.

In collaboration with radiologists, technologists, and hospital leadership, the Head Nurse will drive initiatives to improve patient experience, implement evidence-based practices, and strategically advance departmental goals in line with broader organizational objectives. This role calls for a visionary leader who can cultivate a highly motivated nursing team, streamline processes, and foster an environment that prioritizes continuous improvement and professional growth.


Education and Experience profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a recognized Institution/University
  • M.Sc. degree in Nursing or post-graduate diploma in management relevant to nursing practice
  • Must be registered with Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council (or meeting the requirements for registration)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of working experience as a Registered Nurse in Radiological sciences preferably in radiation sciences
