Nursing Officer of Surgical Area

The Nursing Officer for Surgical Wards is a key member of the hospital clinical team. He / She delivers safe, competent, individualized patient centred holistic care to an optimum level, by utilizing nursing process. Assists in the management of the the Surgical Wards during the assigned shift for the clinical care of patients and operation of the unit. Plans, directs and coordinates medical and health services, sets and carries out policies, goals and procedures for the department; evaluates the quality of the staff’s work and develops reports and budgets. Assures that all doctors with patients on the unit are satisfied with the nursing care provided to their patients resulting in excellent outcomes. Serves as the acting Nurse Supervisor during their absence.

Education and Experience profile:

• B. Sc. Degree in Nursing essential
• Must be registered with Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council
• Post Graduate Diploma preferred
• Minimum 6 years of experience as Assistant Nurse Officer in Surgical Ward or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience as Nursing Officer
