Senior Consultant of Onco-hematology

The Senior Consultant of Onco-hematology will direct and ensure the quality and smoothness of the daily work within the Onco-hematology Sub-Unit. They will be involved in the care of the patients with onco-hematological diseases both within the ward, and within the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Senior Consultant prescribes and performs diagnostic test and therapies, even invasive such as bone marrow biopsy. They report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. They will attend periodic meetings with the Head of the Unit, specialist in Internal Medicine, radiologists, surgeons and anesthetists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit. The Senior Consultant will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, they will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.

Education and Experience profile:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med./Fellowship  in Oncology or Hematology (or its equivalent)
• Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in any hematological area, of which at least 1 year in onco-hematology unit
