About the job Head of Nuclear Medicine Unit

The Head of Nuclear Medicine Unit will lead an experienced Medical and Technicians team, overseeing a comprehensive clinical Nuclear Medicine program involving consultation services for inpatients and other health facilities in Uganda and abroad.  Deep expertise is required in the specific area of Nuclear Medicine. The Head of Unit will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills and teaching responsibilities may include providing daily clinical nuclear medicine services as well as supervision and teaching of residents and fellows during procedures and conferences and participating in interdisciplinary conferences with clinical subspecialties. They will have a strategic vision for the role of the Head of Nuclear Medicine Unit in a rapidly changing medical landscape. Finally, the Head of Unit will cooperate with the Quality Department to prepare suitable procedures to minimize the risk of accidents in the Unit and to ensure the correct application of the same.


Education and Experience profile:


  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A M.Med. in Nuclear Medicine or specialized path following a residency program in Radiology
  • Additional training and certification in nuclear medicine from accredited hospitals or institutions.
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in Nuclear Medicine departments. 
  • At least five (5) years in molecular imaging including PET/CT procedures & targeted Radionuclide therapy.
