About the job Consultant of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
The Consultant of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Unit will be a part of an experienced team, overseeing a comprehensive clinical surgical program involving consultation services for inpatients and other health facilities in Uganda and abroad, outpatient clinics. They will be responsible for the management of patient with a wide variety of conditions ranging from congenital upper limb deformities, benign and malignant skin and soft tissue lesions, traumatic and degenerative hand pathologies, soft tissue defects post trauma or tumour resections, chronic wounds and pressure sores, as well as primary and secondary burn injuries. The Consultant will report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the ward. They will attend periodic meetings with the Head of Unit, oncologists, radiologists, other surgeons and anesthetists to evaluate which medical and surgical procedures to adopt for the various patients, and their rehabilitation after operations. The Consultant of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery will help the Head of Unit to cooperate with the Infection Control Unit and Quality Department to prepare suitable procedures to minimize the risk of infections in the Unit and to ensure the correct application of the same.
Education and Experience profile
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (or equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
