Specialist Medical Officer of Pediatrics Unit

The Specialist Medical Officer of Pediatrics Unit will be especially involved in the care of the pediatric patients within the Sub-Unit of General Pediatrics & Newborn Care. They will autonomously perform the guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Pediatric Unit. The desired Specialist Medical Officer of Pediatrics Unitshall be a blend of technical skills and positive personal attributes. They must be skilled in conducting physical examinations of the kids, taking patient medical histories and interpreting the results of diagnostic tests. They will also coordinate patient care with other specialists within ISHU. The Specialist Medical Officer of Pediatrics Unit must be skilled at solving problems, communicating with others and making decisions quickly. Furthermore, compassion, respect and integrity are just some of the personal attributes required.

Education and Experience profile:

• A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A M.Med. in Pediatry (or its equivalent)
• Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• At least three (3) years of work experience in any area related to Pediatric
