About the job Consultant of Dermatology

The Consultant of Dermatology will be mainly involved in the care of the patients within the Dermatology Clinic, but they will also be called to give specialistic consultation for inpatients. They will be expected to provide principally a general dermatology service to include acute medical dermatology for inpatients of all ages including children. Paediatric dermatology outpatient clinics will also be included. He/she reports daily to the Director of Department about the most recent or serious cases of their competence. The Consultant will attend periodic meetings with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients. An interest in research and teaching is expected with participation in projects, courses, etc. to enhance the standing and role of the Department and ISHU. Attendance at, and organisation of, meetings is expected. Finally, they will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.

Education and Experience profile

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University.
  • A M.Med. in Dermatology (or equivalent)
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Dermatology.
