About the job Medical Officer of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery

The Medical Officer of Orthopedic & Trauma Surgery Unit will be involved in the care of the patients within all the Ward, but also in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. They will perform the guard shift, conduct physical examinations, take patient medical histories and interpret the results of diagnostic tests. They will perform advanced surgical procedure under supervision of a Specialist Medical Officer or Consultant in progressive autonomy. They will also cooperate to coordinate patient care with other specialists within ISHU. Participation in research activities and health data collection will be mandatory.


Education and Experience profile:

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • Can be a General Practitioner, can be recently specialized or still attending the M.Med. in Orthopedic/Trauma Surgery or equivalent
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Has less than 3 years of Hospital activity and experience in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital.
