About the job Consultant of Pneumology
- The Consultant of Pneumology will be mainly involved in the care of the patients within the Pneumology Sub-Unit, but they will also be called to contribute to the General Medicine ward guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Internal Medicine Unit.
- The Consultant autonomously prescribes diagnostic test and therapies; he/she reports daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward.
- The Consultant of Pneumology will attend periodic meetings with the Head of Internal Medicine Unit, specialist in infectious disease, surgeons and anesthetists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit.
- The Consultant of Pneumology will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, they will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Pneumology (or its equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
Experience:
- Minimum of six (6) years of working experience in Pneumology (or equivalent) in a general, regional referral or national referral hospital
- Has scientific research titles in Pneumology or related sectors
