The Specialist Medical Officers of Orthopedic & Trauma Surgery Unit will be involved in the care of the patients within the ward. They will autonomously perform the guard shift and take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Specialist autonomously performs surgical procedures; they report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases and procedures in the ward. The Specialist can also attend periodic meetings with the Consultants, radiologists, anesthetists, physiotherapists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit, and they cooperate with them in the training and evaluation of the Medical Officers.


Education and Experience profile:

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A M.Med./PhD in Orthopedic/Trauma Surgery or its equivalent
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • At least three  (3)  years of work experience in any area related to Orthopedic/Trauma Surgery
