About the job Specialist Medical Officer of Anesthesiology / ICU / PICU
The Specialist Medical Officer of Anesthesiology / ICU / PICU will be mainly involved in the care of the patients within all Unit, but they will also be called to contribute to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Specialist Medical Officer autonomously prescribes diagnostic test and therapies; they must be skilled in conducting physical examinations, taking patient medical histories and interpreting the results of diagnostic tests. They will also coordinate patient care with other specialists within ISHU. They must be skilled at solving problems, communicating with others and making decisions quickly. He/she reports daily to the Consultant of the Sub-Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. The Specialist Medical Officer will attend periodic meetings with surgeons and other specialists (cardiology, pediatrician, infectious disease specialist, etc) to evaluate which cares and procedures perform for the different patients. Finally, the Specialist will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.
Education and Experience profile:
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med. in Anestesiology, Intensive Care or Emergency Medicine (or its equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- At least three (3) years of working experience in Anesthesiology or Intensive Care
