About the job Consultant of Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery

The Consultant of Orthopedic & Trauma Surgery will be involved in the care and treatment of the patients within the ward, but they will also be called to contribute to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Consultant autonomously performs advanced surgical procedures; they report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases and procedures in the ward. The Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Head of the Unit, radiologists, anaesthetists, physiotherapists and other specialists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit. The Consultant will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Finally, they will apply all the procedure to minimize the risk of infections in accordance with Infection Prevention and Control Service and Quality & Safety Department.

Education and Experience Profile:

  • A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
  • A M.Med./Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery (or its equivalent)
  • Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Orthopedic Surgery
