Senior Consultant of General Pediatrics & Newborn Care

The Senior Consultant of General Pediatrics & Newborn Care will be mainly involved in the care of the pediatric patients and well newborns within the Sub-Unit as entrusted to them by the Head of the Unit, but they will also be called to contribute to the Unit guard shift. The Senior Consultant will also take part to the work shift in the OPD Clinics belonging to the Unit. The Senior Consultant autonomously prescribes diagnostic test and therapies; they report daily to the Head of Unit about the most recent or serious cases in the sub-unit/ward. The Senior Consultant will attend periodic meetings with the Head of the Unit, specialists in infectious disease, cardiologists, oncologists, surgeons and anesthetists to evaluate which procedures perform for the different patients belonging to the Unit.The Senior Consultant will have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. Furthermore, compassion, respect and integrity are just some of the personal attributes required.

Education and Experience profile:

• A  MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
• A  M.Med. in pediatric (or its equivalent)
• Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in Pediatric
