About the job Consultant of Rheumatology
The Consultant of Rheumatology will be mainly involved in the care of the patients within the Rheumatology Clinic, but they will also be called to give specialistic consultation for inpatients in the wards and in Day case area. The Rheumatology service sits under the Outpatients and is committed to implement a team-based approach to provide excellence in patient care with the collaboration of both internists and orthopedics. Therefore, the Consultant will work with other Specilists and Medical Officers with the objective of providing a high standard of clinical practice and clinical expertise, while contributing to the provision of innovative and effective Rheumatology services within the Country. The Consultant will have the professional responsibility to provide teaching to all health professionals of lesser skill, knowledge or experience. This obligation includes informed instruction during routine clinical activities. Furthermore, research is considered an integral part of medical practice in ISHU.
Education and Experience profile
- A MB.Ch.B. or its equivalent from a recognized University
- A M.Med./PhD in Rheumatology (or equivalent)
- Must be registered (or meet the requirements for registration, if currently working abroad) to the Ugandan Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in Rheumatology
