Platform Engineer (Cloud, Linux, proxy/CDN)
Job Description:
About the Role
Were looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer to join a small, high-performing development team in London. Youll be the primary infrastructure contact, responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining Linux and cloud systems that support high-traffic, data-intensive workloads, including web scraping operations.
What You'll Do

Own and optimize Linux-based infrastructure in multi-region AWS environments.

Configure and manage forward/reverse proxies (Nginx/Squid) and CDNs (CloudFront) to support high-volume traffic.

Automate infrastructure and deployments using Terraform, Ansible, and scripting (Python/Bash).

Monitor and tune performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively improve reliability.

Collaborate closely with a small dev team to ensure stable, efficient environments.

Support production systems during business hours and as part of an out-of-hours rota.
Required Skills & Experience

2- 5 years in infrastructure, platform engineering, or DevOps roles.

Strong Linux administration and networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, routing, load balancing).

Production experience in AWS (multi-region) or other cloud environments.

Hands-on with proxy/CDN technologies (Nginx, Squid, CloudFront) in production.

Strong scripting skills (Python and/or Bash).

Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, Ansible).
Nice-to-Have

Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS) in production.

Monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk).

Experience managing vendor relationships or external cloud providers.
