Investment Product Specialist (Director) - Buyside
Role Overview
The Investment Product Specialist (Director) is responsible for conducting in-depth research, analysis, and due diligence on investment products, strategies, and asset classes to support the firm's investment management and product development initiatives. You will work closely with the portfolio management, product, and distribution teams to provide expertise on current and prospective investment products, evaluate their suitability for the firm's client base, and communicate key insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on a broad range of investment products, strategies, and asset classes, including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and multi-asset solutions
- Evaluate investment products and strategies based on factors such as investment philosophy, process, risk/return profile, liquidity, fees, and operational infrastructure
- Develop detailed product profiles, performance analyses, and investment theses to inform product selection, positioning, and marketing
- Collaborate with portfolio managers to assess the fit of investment products within the firm's investment platform and client portfolios
- Work with the product development team to ideate and design new investment products that align with client needs and the firm's strategic priorities
- Create compelling presentation materials and thought leadership content to educate and inform internal stakeholders and clients
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory changes that may impact the firm's investment products and strategies
- Provide training and knowledge-sharing to support the sales and client service teams
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in investment research, product management, or a similar role within the asset management industry
- Strong understanding of various asset classes, investment strategies, and portfolio construction principles
- Demonstrated expertise in investment analysis, due diligence, and product evaluation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment concepts for diverse audiences
- Proven track record of collaborating cross-functionally to drive product development and support distribution efforts
- CFA charterholder or advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field preferred
- Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and presentation software
