Our client is a high-growth AI SaaS business with a global engineering footprint, headquartered in Hong Kong.

They are hiring a Chief Technology Officer to own the technical vision end to end and scale the engineering organisation through its next phase of growth. This is a seat at the table, not a delivery function. The role can be based in Hong Kong or in Mainland China, and candidates elsewhere who are open to relocating are equally welcome.

Proficient English communication is essential, with Mandarin a strong advantage.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲

• 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱: You have taken AI products from idea to production, with genuine depth across LLM systems and agent architectures rather than oversight from a distance.
• 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲-𝗨𝗽 𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲: Senior technology leadership inside venture-backed companies during periods of rapid growth, with the scar tissue that comes with it.
• 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿: Proven experience growing an engineering team significantly in size and developing the Engineering Managers who lead it, across offices and time zones.
• 𝗢𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: High ownership, strategic drive, and the judgement to push back on the founder constructively when the technical call warrants it. Order takers will not enjoy this seat.
• 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Open-minded, agile, and at ease with ambiguity as the product and the market move underneath you.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂

• 𝗔 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲: Work directly with the founder on technical direction and company strategy, rather than executing someone else's plan.
• 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: End-to-end ownership of architecture and technical direction across the product.
• 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸: They are explicitly looking for someone who will push back, not take orders.
• 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱: Grow both the engineering organisation and the management layer within it, through the company's next phase.
• 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲: Agentic AI sits at the heart of the technical work, not at the edges of it.
