Responsibilities:

  • Lead hands-on woodwork and ceramic activities, guiding campers in creating their own projects.
  • Teach woodworking techniques such as carving, shaping, sanding, and assembling wooden pieces.
  • Instruct campers on ceramic techniques, including molding, glazing, and firing.
  • Ensure all activities are safe and age-appropriate, providing close supervision during crafting sessions.
  • Foster creativity and encourage campers to express themselves through their projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are safely stored and ready for use.
  • Work closely with other camp instructors to develop and implement creative project ideas for camp-themed events or showcases.
  • Provide positive feedback and individual attention to campers, promoting skill-building and confidence.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in teaching or working with woodwork and ceramics (formal training or certification preferred).
  • Strong creativity and a passion for arts and crafts.
  • Ability to teach and guide children of all ages and skill levels.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, patient, and encouraging attitude.
  • Ability to safely handle tools and equipment used in woodworking and ceramics.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain before camp start) is a plus.
  • Must be flexible, reliable, and comfortable working in an outdoor or workshop setting.
  • Previous camp experience is a plus.
