Drones and Rockets

About the Role:
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dynamic and adventurous individual to join our camp as a Drones and Rockets Counselor. In this role, you will introduce campers to the thrilling world of flight technology, guiding them through the basics of drone operation and rocket science. Through hands-on activities and exciting challenges, youll help foster curiosity and encourage campers to think critically about the technology of flight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead workshops on drone operation, including safety, flight techniques, and basic aerial photography.
• Teach campers how rockets work, guiding them through the design, building, and launching of model rockets.
• Provide demonstrations and hands-on experiences with drones and rockets, allowing campers to gain practical skills.
• Organize and lead drone racing challenges, rocket launch events, and other fun, competitive activities.
• Integrate lessons on the science of flight, aerodynamics, and the principles behind drone and rocket technologies.
• Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe and controlled environment, promoting teamwork and problem-solving.
• Work with other counselors to incorporate drones and rockets into the broader camp activities and STEM curriculum.

Qualifications:

• Background in aerospace engineering, robotics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience with drones or model rockets and an understanding of aerodynamics.
• Strong teaching and leadership abilities, with a passion for inspiring youth in STEM.
• Previous experience in camp counseling or working with children is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in an engaging and accessible way.
