About the job Financial Manager
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Finance Manager: Business Support in the Finance Department. The position reports to the Finance Head and is based at Head Office The successful incumbent will be responsible for the delivery of the companiess required financial results by producing high quality, accurate, timely, and compliant financial information; partnering with and providing financial leadership to Functional Heads at Head Office (Durban) and provide strong, integrated analytical insights that enable the delivery of companiess financial performance as well as influence a strong governance and control framework that meets stakeholder expectations.
Key performance areas:
- Produces the ISSA Finance Calendar based on the Group Reporting Calendar for distribution to Finance teams (all Forecast, Budget, Month End timelines, 5 Year Plan, co-ordinates with group timelines)
- Guide key budget, forecast, and strategic plan assumptions
- Provide strategic guidance to each Finance Manager to align KPI to the company's Strategy
- Meet monthly to discuss progress on KPIs and influence/equip Finance Managers with the necessary tools, advice, and support to execute the company's Strategy
- Develop forums to share learnings and good practices to drive value from finance
- Prepare quarterly and monthly financial reports regarding financial performance against budget/forecast including mitigation action items for tracking with function teams
- Review period and forecast submissions to ensure completeness, and accuracy and to identify areas for investigation
- Analyse complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial insight
- Finance lead in collaborating with functional teams on inputs for the strategic plan
- Develop financial models and analysis to support strategic initiatives
- Drive the delivery of the companys financial results:
- Drive strategic plan, budget, and forecasting process to ensure delivery of the company's objectives.
- Monitor monthly financial performance, present emerging performance risks, translate KPIs into practical action plans to deliver maximum value, and partner with functional team to deliver performance
- Drive organizational performance to deliver on the financial objective
- Provide the company with strong, integrated analytical insights by:
- Reviewing and analyzing the integrated P&L to identify opportunities and risks.
- Making use of analytical methodology, trending, and KPIs as tools to generate insights.
- Develop a continuous improvement mindset within the finance function, continuously driving to improve processes and reduce operational costs as well as the cost of finance.
- Build strong and deep core financial capability within the appropriate functions through mentoring, coaching training, and appropriate recruitment.
- Provide an analytical service to the business to address specific business requirements on an ad-hoc basis.
- Oversees and manages the full SASA reporting processes and accounting
- Represent the interest of the company at nominated committee meetings to yield the best results for the industry and entity
- Reviews and approves monthly Recoverable Value (RV) price to facilitate the monthly payment process based on the SASA-approved RV price
- Assist in the preparation of the South African Group annual budget for approval by the Company Sugar South Africa Exco and inclusion in the Group Budget
- Researches and complies with industry financial assumptions for review and approval by the Finance Head and Commercial Head
- Responsible for overseeing the instructions and parameters to be issued to all South African entities leading to the submission of entity submission
- Set up quarterly crush plan meetings to support the review and approval of production data
- Review of estimate financials before final review by Finance Head
- Review full analysis/presentation of the profit forecasts for review to the Financial Head by set due dates; oversee the compilation of all key operational/ business/ financial metrics for each profit forecast. (Margin, cost of production, working capital, CWIP cash flow analysis)
Minimum specifications/requirement areas
Relevant financial qualifications; CA (SA) / CIMA advantageous.
A minimum of 10+ years post-qualification experience
A minimum of 10+ years of finance management experience
Direct operational experience advantageous
