Our client has the following vacancies available: Financial Manager (Technical IFRS / Consolidation within the Finance Division at Piet Retief, Mpumalanga / Pretoria, Gauteng.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee and manage a team of accountants
  • Be the IFRS technical go-to person in the Group
  • Review and guide on allocated Segments GL reconciliations
  • Facilitate governance around monthly recon control sheets
  • Complete bi-annual performance reviews with direct reports
  • Contribute to setting KPIs for direct reports
  • Contribute and participate in the operations annual budgeting process
  • Contribute to the preparation of the annual consolidated budget
  • Ensure statutory and SARS-related matters are complied with for allocated segments
  • Provide input into tax matters
  • Support and lead the accountant team in external audits
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders in the business
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls
  • Support team on Year-end preparation, completion/review of annual financial statements, tax calculations, and completion of tax returns
  • Contribute to the consolidation of Group results on a monthly and annual basis
  • Critically evaluate/analyze relevant financial accounting results to identify errors/omissions/risks
  • Coach and mentor junior team members
  • Take full accountability for the allocated segments accounting and financial reporting accuracy and completeness
  • Support the team in the meeting (and improving on) monthly and annual deadlines
  • Take responsibility for effective finance-related staffing/resourcing of allocated segments
  • Critically evaluate financial output to meet IFRS standards and requirements
  • Any other finance-related activities as may be required from a manager from time to time


Qualifications / Skills / Characteristics:

  • Qualification: CA(SA)
  • 2+ years of managing employees
  • 2+ years experience with the preparation of consolidated results
  • In-depth current-day knowledge of IFRS
  • Computer literate / Highly proficient in Excel
  • Financial reporting skills
