Introduction:

We are seeking a Junior Factory Manager to lead our manufacturing operations for steel tanks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire production process, from planning and resource management to quality control and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of high-quality steel tanks that meet customer demands and industry standards.

Responsibilities / Duties:

Production Planning:

  • Develop production plans and schedules to meet customer demands.
  • Coordinate with sales and operations teams for accurate forecasting.
  • Optimize manufacturing efficiency and capacity allocation.

Resource Management:

  • Effectively manage and allocate labor, equipment, and raw materials.
  • Optimize resource utilization and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Quality Control:

  • Implement and maintain quality control processes.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Implement corrective actions when necessary.

Production Supervision:

  • Oversee production activities on the factory floor.
  • Monitor adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to manufacturing teams.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Establish and execute a preventive maintenance program for manufacturing equipment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.

Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished products.
  • Implement inventory control systems to optimize stock levels and minimize waste.

Cost Control:

  • Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement lean manufacturing principles.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols and conduct safety training for employees.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the factory.
  • Encourage employee suggestions for process enhancements and optimization.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective coordination.
  • Liaise with customers to address inquiries and provide production updates.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Establish performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Generate regular reports on production output, quality, and efficiency.

Environmental Sustainability:

  • Implement environmentally friendly practices in manufacturing.
  • Explore sustainable materials and techniques to reduce environmental impact.

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • NQF Level 6 in factory management, production or project management (any relevant)
  • Drivers license and reliable transport.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing leadership role, preferably in steel tank production.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and environmental sustainability practices.
