Job Mission:

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior advisor Strategy Execution to provide effective strategy execution support, within the context of the functional leader model that Eskom has adopted, in order to guide and enable the realisation of Eskoms corporate business plan and the supporting strategic objectives and strategic initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Facilitate and guide strategy execution through aligning the organisation and planning operations to effectively execute the Eskom Holdings strategy by:

  • Cascading the strategy to higher, lower and adjacent business domains for the purpose of ensuring consistency in strategic themes, objectives, initiatives, key performance indicators and targets, through the development of appropriate balanced scorecards and operational dashboards.
  • Guiding the establishment of a formal link between the strategy and core business processes of the organisation by focusing improvement and transformation initiatives on the operational processes most critical for successful strategy execution.
  • Ensuring the integration of financial, human resources and other resource planning with the Corporate Business Plan to ensure holistic and integrated business plans.
  • Using process models to operationalise the strategy through Eskom business processes.
  • Influencing IT(Information Technology) Planning by ensuring that IM(Information Management) related investments (data bases, infrastructure) are aligned and supporting strategy execution in terms of performance reporting Balance Score Card (BSC) and dashboards) to inform decision making and strategy execution performance reviews.
  • Guiding and ensuring human resources alignment to implement effective employee performance management that drives strategy execution.
  • Facilitating and integrating risk and resilience assessments and treatment plans into the divisional business plans.
  • Defining effective operational dashboards through explicit decomposition of strategic objectives and key processes in order to identify the operational drivers that are linked to the Divisions / OUs strategy execution.
  • Contributing to the effective development of the Shareholders Compact (SHC), the Integrated Long-Term Plan (ILTP), the Corporate Business Plan and the aligning of supporting business plans.
  • Influencing and driving the communication of the corporate plan and supporting business plans.
  • Informing and ensuring the development of business plans that are aligned to the corporate plan.

2. Monitor and review the divisional business plans by:

  • Facilitating and providing accurate information to support corporate plan reviews.
  • Informing and influencing strategic review meetings to ensure a continuous link between strategy and operations.
  • Aligning strategic initiatives including monitoring, reviewing and evaluating strategic initiatives for effectiveness, contribution to strategic objectives, tracking realisation of benefits and ensuring that modifications are implemented where necessary.
  • Guiding and informing the integrated risk and resilience management process to ensure that it is robust and effective in managing business plan risks.
  • Collaborating and informing the testing of cause-and-effect relationships underlying the strategy assumptions and drivers in order to make adjustments to the strategy as necessary.
  • Influencing and participating in organisational and functional strategy reviews and development, including the alignment to, and adoption of best practice benchmarks.

3. Guide and maintain the capability to drive and coordinate effective strategy execution by:

  • Influencing and aligning the strategy execution agenda to ensure that executive and senior
  • leadership takes ownership and plays an active role in leading the campaign to formulate, drive and execute strategy.
  • Contextualising the strategic change agenda as a framework that guides and promotes strategic thinking and strategy execution at all levels of the organisation.
  • Facilitating the alignment of the Executive team behaviour with the strategy and the execution thereof.
  • Guiding the development and integration of training and education programs to enable effective strategy execution, including employee training programs run by the Eskom Academy of Learning (EAL) and the Eskom Leadership Institute (ELI).

4. Actively support the delivery of the planning and integration partnering capability to ensure effective representation, co-ordination, integration and delivery of the overall Strategy and Planning (S&P) portfolio by:

  • Ensuring (in collaboration with the S&P functional areas) that Eskom business domains have effectively aligned and planned operations to support the Corporate Business Plan.
  • Providing S&P policies, framework and procedures to the divisions and operating units.
  • Ensuring effective implementation of the S&P mandates, best practice systems / frameworks
  • and processes w.r.t business planning in the designated Eskom business domains.
  • Identifying common threads and/or opportunities by performing continuous analysis and benchmarking to support continuous business improvement and best practice sharing.
  • Expediting effective interfacing with the S&P portfolios, including the related centres of excellence (CoE) to ensure role clarity and influence policy and framework changes/enhancements.
  • Continuously analysing the operating environment and communicating/escalating stakeholder needs.
  • Guiding and aligning business intelligence, benchmarking, and best practice analysis exercises initiated to guide and expedite business performance towards achieving desired performance.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • B Degree/B Tech Business Management/Finance/Commerce/Social Sciences/Engineering at NQF 7 with 360 Credits

Related Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in a strategy execution environment
