Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Senior Claims Handler to join our client in the Insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance claims processing from registering to payment stage, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate insurance claims promptly and accurately, determining coverage and liability.
  • Investigate claims thoroughly, gathering relevant information from various sources including clients, witnesses, and experts.
  • Analyse policy documentation and legal regulations to ensure claims are handled in compliance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as underwriting and legal to resolve complex claims issues.
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants or their representatives, aiming for fair and efficient resolutions.
  • Document claim activities and maintain accurate records by company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior claims handlers, assisting in their professional development.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, legal developments, and emerging technologies related to claims handling.
  • Liaise with insurers and suppliers.
  • Communicate with insurers telephonically and by email (relating to claim progress)
  • Assist insurers with general and claims-related queries.
  • Administrate domestic and commercial, motor, and non-motor claims.
  • Manage and settle claims timeously.
  • Manage the allocation of claim reserves/outstandings.
  • Assist with administrative functions and projects at the request of management.
  • Maintain the electronic claims filing system (including the renaming of documents).
  • Request and/or check claim payments according to a mandate.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 10 years of experience in insurance claims handling.
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry is a must
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, coverage terms, and legal regulations.
  • Experience working with binder claims and mandates
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and databases for claims processing.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing projects or teams.
  • FAIS Regulatory Examination (RE5) (advantageous)
  • Relevant FAIS (150 Credits)
  • Full qualification in short-term
  • Adherence to the FSCA Fit and Proper requirements
