Education Resource Specialist - RN, Abdominal (Kidney) Transplant (TMC)
Location: Houston, Texas
Salary range: $89,000.00-$130,000.00
Must-Haves
1) Must have an active RN Texas License, or active multi-state compact RN license, clear of stipulations or disciplinary actions. If you would like to submit a candidate that does have board actions, the candidate must disclose this to the Recruiter during the Recruiter's phone interview.
2) Must have Master's degree (education preferred), BLS, & Minimum of 5 years of acute care nursing experience
3) 3 years of Kidney Transplant Coordinator experience (Kidney exp is a must, non-exchangeable/negotiable for any other specialties
4) Must have at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
5) Must have an updated resume - job history dates and units worked in must be accurate, Must have a proven track record of consistent work history. Not job hopping. If there is job hopping, we simply an need explanation as to why they left (relocation, promotion/growth, etc).
Nice-To-Have
Must be honest about the unit, shift, and location they are interested in working - if someone is unhappy with nights but takes it because "it's a job" this commonly shows up in a hiring leader interview and receives feedback to not move forward with an offer.
Familiarity with Epic, OPTN, and CSM guidelines is important
Must be able to communicate efficiently
Certification as a Transplant Coordinator is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver educational modules and continuing education events for all aspects of the abdominal transplant program, including outpatient, transplant ICU, and acute care settings.
Support clinical staff and transplant coordinators with advanced training and resources, including orientation programs and ongoing education.
Collaborate with the unit team to ensure adherence to OPN and CSM guidelines and integrate best practices into educational materials.
Provide support for the SICU and work closely with the outpatient side of the transplant unit, including Aurora.
Report directly to Rosemary and participate in a comprehensive 3-day classroom training program.
Qualifications:
A Masters Degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
Certification as a Transplant Coordinator is a plus.
Experience as a Transplant Coordinator is essential.
Proven experience in educational roles, particularly in a healthcare setting, is a significant plus.
Familiarity with Epic, OPTN, and CSM guidelines is important.
Registered Nurse (RN) designation is required.
A Day in the Life:
As an Education Resource Specialist, your day will be both rewarding and varied. You will engage in creating and refining educational content, conducting training sessions, and supporting a range of clinical areas within the abdominal transplant unit. Your work will involve collaborating with a dedicated team to enhance patient care and ensure that all staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to excel.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 4 pm, with flexibility
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Masters Degree or clinical specialty certification
Licenses/Certifications: Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing, Completion of Basic Life Support, and Other certifications based on specific nursing unit requirements
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: At least five (5) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, Viewed as an expert and leader in current specialty, Principal Accountabilities
