What you'll do:

The Management Accountant / Finance Reporting Analyst supports the CFO and finance team by preparing recurring management reporting, maintaining financial data integrity across systems, supporting revenue recognition and working-capital visibility, and assisting with finance insights across the group and multiple entities within it. The role is focused on financial reporting preparation, reconciliation, data integrity and management accounting support across multiple entities. The role helps ensure that financial information is reconciled, reliable, timely and decision-ready, enabling management to monitor business performance, revenue, working capital and financial operations across the group.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

    1. Management Reporting
      1. Support the preparation and consolidation of weekly and monthly financial reporting across the business.
        1. Preparation of weekly consolidated sales reporting based on system exports.
        2. Reconciliation of customer deposits, vendor deposits and related balances supporting revenue recognition outcomes.
        3. Monthly reconciliation of CRM reports to finance sales reports.
        4. Preparation of weekly debtor reports, including data extraction from accounting systems and consolidation into reporting templates.
        5. Monthly intercompany sales reconciliation across entities.
        6. Month end close process and associated balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts.
    2. Finance Process Quality Checks
      1. Support the accuracy and integrity of core finance processes across multiple entities, by overseeing tools and processes that cover:
        1. Oversight of first-run accounts payable ingestion processes.
        2. Validation of OCR-captured invoice data and initial coding allocations.
        3. First-pass three-way matching for invoices without exceptions.
        4. Monitoring and support of daily billing mirroring between operational systems and the finance system.
        5. Control-oriented reviews of automated AP workflows to ensure financial data integrity.
    3. Financial Reconciliation and Data Integrity
      1. Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data across systems and entities.
        1. Reconciliation between billing systems and finance systems.
        2. Intercompany reconciliation.
        3. Vendor and supplier reporting.
        4. Balance sheet reconciliations.
        5. Investigation and escalation of discrepancies across systems and reports.
    4. Enhanced Internal and Stakeholder Reporting
      1. Based on systems readiness and available capacity, the role also includes actioning and enhancing the following internal and external reporting capabilities:
        1. Job status reporting.
        2. Job costing analysis.
        3. Debtor movement reporting.
        4. Weekly cash reporting and allocation tracking.
        5. Sales reporting by salesperson.
        6. Monthly vendor reporting.
        7. Assistance with preparation of monthly management accounts.
        8. Participation in month-end close processes.
        9. Quarterly investor and bank reporting.
        10. Reconciliation of billing systems to finance systems across multiple entities.
    5. Key Tasks
      1. Typical tasks performed in the role include:
        1. Extracting financial data from accounting systems.
        2. Maintaining consolidated reporting spreadsheets.
        3. Preparing reconciliations across systems and entities.
        4. Reviewing automated finance processes for accuracy.
        5. Supporting month-end close activities.
        6. Preparing draft management reporting packs for CFO review.
        7. Identifying inconsistencies or variances within financial data.

Successful candidate must have:

    Required

    • Strong experience with Xero or similar cloud accounting platforms.
    • Solid understanding of management accounting principles.
    • Experience performing financial reconciliations across multiple systems.
    • Strong Excel spreadsheet modelling skills.
    • Understanding of revenue recognition concepts.
    • Strong ability to reconcile large datasets and investigate variances across multiple source systems.
    • Familiarity with accounts payable workflows and invoice processing.
    • Experience working across multiple legal entities.
    • Ability to work remotely as part of an Australian finance team.
    • Ability to operate with moderate autonomy once trained in Bestech-specific processes.
    • Comfortable working from documented procedures, recurring reporting timetables and defined review points.
    • Able to identify exceptions clearly and escalate with supporting detail.

    Preferred

    • Experience reconciling CRM and finance system data.
    • Exposure to job costing environments.
    • Experience preparing management reporting packs.
    • Experience with month end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Qualifications
      • Accounting, commerce, business or similar degree preferred.
      • CA/CPA or equivalent qualification desirable but not mandatory.
      • Practical experience in finance reporting and reconciliations is more important than formal qualification alone.
