The Role:
Our client, a market leader in the heavy industrial maintenance sector, is currently recruiting for an Estimator for a permanent position. This will be a hybrid role, involving attending meetings in the Wakefield office 1-2 days per week. Duties will include:
The Role:
- Maintain compliance with departmental procedures as laid down in the Quality Management System.
- Control and organise proposals.
- Prepare and organise timely submission of tenders in response to client's invitations to tender.
- Assist the Proposals Manager in identification of sales budgets and potential business opportunities
- Secure business for the company in line with budgets, at the best possible price and return.
- Arrive for continual business improvement.
- Prepare detailed spreadsheets to show tender breakdown.
- Support the Proposals Manager providing information and documentation as required for response to contract notices in the various journals.
- Appraise Site Engineers Tender estimates for direct labour.
- Appraise Site Engineers assessment of Subcontractors bids.
- Assist in negotiations with clients.
- Attend site meetings with clients
- Maintain regular contact with other departments, 1e. Quality, Safety, Operations and Finance to ensure that any potential contract requirements are duly considered.
- To reduce costs and increase efficiency wherever possible
- To act and behave with integrity in an unbiased and professional manner at all times.
- To help promote a team spirit and enthusiasm in the Proposals Department.
- Work to the Companies Policies with regard to Safety, Quality & Environmental.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years previous experience in an industrial sector
- Good Microsoft Excel skills and competent in other standard Microsoft software
- Confident in written and verbal communication with internal/external stakeholders including with senior roles
- Basic understanding of engineering/construction technology and terminology
- Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings
- Basic understanding of contractual terminology
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Flexibility in terms of working hours
