Rate: £480.00 per day PAYE - (£428.40 + £51.60 hol pay)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead C&I Commissioning Technician to manage and oversee the commissioning of control and instrumentation systems for a new build power generation project in the UK. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring systems are safely and effectively commissioned to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commissioning of Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Develop detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules to align with project milestones.
  • Coordinate and oversee functional testing, loop checking, and system integration testing.
  • Manage the calibration, testing, and verification of instruments, control valves, and sensors.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and UK health & safety regulations.
  • Provide technical leadership to commissioning teams, ensuring effective collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Conduct fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of control and instrumentation issues.
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with design, construction, and client teams to ensure project success.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and development of commissioning best practices.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and process teams to ensure seamless system integration in a power generation environment.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in C&I commissioning, preferably in new build power generation projects in the UK.
  • Strong technical knowledge of control systems, SCADA, and field instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with IEC, ISA, and relevant UK industry standards.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in commissioning projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
