Job Title: Mechanical Commissioning Technician

Duration: 6-12 months
Rate: £400.00 per day PAYE - (£357.00 + £43.00 hol pay)

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Commissioning Technician to support the commissioning of mechanical systems for a new build power generation project in the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring mechanical systems are safely and effectively commissioned to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the commissioning of mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.
  • Perform functional testing, pressure testing, and system integration checks.
  • Support system start-up and ensure mechanical equipment is properly tested and balanced before activation.
  • Collaborate with the commissioning team to ensure mechanical systems are integrated seamlessly with electrical and control systems.
  • Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of mechanical system issues.
  • Verify mechanical equipment settings and configurations in accordance with design specifications and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and UK health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, and progress reports.
  • Work closely with design, construction, and client teams to ensure project success.
Qualifications and Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical commissioning, preferably in new build power generation projects in the UK.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including piping, pumps, and rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity with UK mechanical standards and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with power generation technologies such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or combined cycle power plants.
  • Competency in commissioning tools and software.
  • Knowledge of mechanical protection systems and fault-finding techniques.
