Rate: £440.00 per day PAYE - (£392.70 + £47.30 hol pay)
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive C&I Commissioning Technician to support the commissioning of control and instrumentation systems for a new build power generation project in the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring C&I systems are safely and effectively commissioned to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the commissioning of control and instrumentation systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and field instrumentation.
  • Perform functional testing, loop checks, and system integration tests.
  • Support system start-up and ensure instrumentation devices are properly calibrated and configured before activation.
  • Collaborate with the commissioning team to ensure C&I systems are integrated seamlessly with electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Perform fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of control and instrumentation issues.
  • Verify C&I equipment settings and configurations in accordance with design specifications and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and UK health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, including test records, punch lists, and progress reports.
  • Work closely with design, construction, and client teams to ensure project success.
Qualifications and Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in C&I commissioning, preferably in new build power generation projects in the UK.
  • Strong technical knowledge of control systems, SCADA, and field instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with UK standards such as BS EN 61511 and IEC regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with power generation technologies such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or combined cycle power plants.
  • Competency in commissioning tools and software.
  • Knowledge of functional safety systems and fault-finding techniques.
