Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our remote U.S. tax compliance team. This role is ideal for analytical professionals who thrive on multi-entity work and excel under tight deadlines.

Operating Time: U.S. business hours (EST) 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM (IST)

Location:  Colombo

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review individual, partnership, corporate, and trust tax returns for U.S. clients.
• Manage multi-state, multi-entity filings including S Corps, C Corps, Partnerships, and fiduciary entities.
• Research and apply current U.S. tax codes to diverse client scenarios and provide proactive optimization advice.
• Respond to tax authority notices and assist with audit documentation and information gathering.
• Maintain accurate and compliant workpapers in line with U.S. CPA firm standards.
• Ensure timely completion of filings and estimated tax payments.
• Safeguard all client and firm data according to IRS confidentiality, privacy, and security protocols.

Requirements:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• CPA or EA certification is an advantage.
• 1-3 years practical experience in tax, audit, or accounting (trainees, interns, and newcomers with strong fundamentals are encouraged to apply).
• Eagerness to learn U.S. tax rules and work with international clients (full training and mentoring from experienced CPAs provided).
• Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Excel; prior experience with tax software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commitment to confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Professional, reliable, and deadline-oriented, especially during peak tax season.
• Experience preparing U.S. tax returns for individuals and businesses is a plus.
