Role Overview 

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Design Senior Engineer to lead engineering design projects from concept through implementation within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, developing engineering designs, overseeing prototype development, supporting equipment validation, and ensuring successful project execution while meeting quality, safety, operational, and business objectives. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical design, CAD modelling, industrial equipment design, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise, creativity, analytical thinking, and project execution capability. 

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct engineering feasibility studies using validated methods and engineering best practices.
• Evaluate engineering solutions considering cost, timelines, risks, environmental impact, safety, quality, production efficiency, legal requirements, maintenance considerations, and energy consumption.
• Lead projects through problem definition, conceptual design, detailed design, prototyping, testing, implementation, and process reviews.
• Develop and manage parametric 3D designs, engineering models, technical drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Create mathematical and engineering models incorporating variables, constraints, alternatives, and performance requirements.
• Support finite element analysis activities including static, dynamic, thermal, flow, and non-linear simulations.
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and engineering reports.
• Implement quality systems and engineering methodologies including DFMEA, design reviews, risk assessments, quality planning, and non-conformance management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during equipment realization, installation, commissioning, start-up, validation, and industrial deployment phases.
• Design and validate hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure machinery functionality and operational performance.
• Create 3D animations, technical presentations, engineering reports, and project documentation to communicate design concepts and results.
• Lead equipment homologation, qualification, industrial validation, and robustness assessments.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers and engineering team members.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in CAD design tools is mandatory.
• Experience working with SolidWorks will be an added advantage.
• Practical experience in hydraulic and pneumatic system design.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles, machine design, manufacturing processes, and industrial equipment.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Sinhala.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Innovative, creative, and capable of contributing new ideas and engineering solutions.
• Strong teamworking skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple technical disciplines.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and deliver results within agreed timelines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence, quality, and safety.
