About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially driven National Sales Manager – Retail Channel to lead the retail business strategy and drive sustainable growth and profitability across the retail network.
This leadership role will be responsible for translating corporate objectives into impactful commercial plans, strengthening customer experience, improving operational performance, and driving long-term business success. The ideal candidate will possess strong retail leadership experience, strategic thinking capabilities, and a proven track record of managing large-scale retail operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Business Growth
- Define and execute the overall retail strategy in line with business objectives and market opportunities.
- Drive revenue growth, profitability, and overall retail business performance.
- Identify and implement opportunities to expand market share and improve commercial performance.
- Utilize market intelligence, customer insights, and data analytics to identify growth opportunities.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and commercial planning activities.
- Monitor financial performance and ensure achievement of revenue and profitability targets.
- Conduct performance reviews and implement corrective actions where required.
- Drive commercial excellence across all retail operations.
Retail Operations Management
- Develop strategic plans for store network expansion, productivity improvements, and operational efficiency.
- Establish KPIs, governance frameworks, and performance monitoring systems.
- Ensure consistent retail standards, operational discipline, and customer service excellence across all locations.
- Drive inventory optimization and operational best practices.
Merchandising & Customer Experience
- Lead merchandising, pricing, promotional, and inventory strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ensure strong product availability, visual merchandising excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop initiatives that strengthen customer loyalty and enhance the retail experience.
- Monitor customer feedback and market trends to improve business performance.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing retail leadership team.
- Strengthen succession planning and talent development initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Support leadership development across regional and store teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Business Management, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 12+ years of retail experience, including significant senior leadership exposure.
- Proven experience managing multi-site retail operations and P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated success in retail strategy development and execution.
- Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, and analytical capabilities.
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing retail teams.
- Strong knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, pricing, promotions, and customer experience management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to drive business growth within a competitive retail environment.
- Age below 45 years.
