Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially driven and customer-focused Head of Business Development & Sales – Logistics to support business growth by developing new customers, expanding existing accounts, and promoting sea freight and air freight logistics solutions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for identifying potential customers, understanding customer supply chains, developing tailored logistics solutions, building strong business relationships, and supporting revenue growth through effective sales and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the freight forwarding and logistics sector.
  • Conduct market research and customer research to identify potential customers and business opportunities.
  • Understand customer supply-chain requirements and develop suitable logistics solutions.
  • Promote sea freight, air freight, and related logistics services to prospective and existing customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, decision-makers, and business partners.
  • Maintain and expand existing business relationships by identifying additional service opportunities.
  • Engage regularly with customers to increase awareness and utilization of logistics services.
  • Conduct client meetings, business reviews, service discussions, and solution presentations.
  • Prepare sales proposals, quotations, and commercial recommendations based on customer requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, service terms, and commercial conditions with customers.
  • Follow up on sales leads, inquiries, proposals, and pending business opportunities.
  • Work towards achieving assigned sales, revenue, and business-development targets.
  • Coordinate with internal operations, pricing, customer service, finance, and logistics teams.
  • Ensure smooth handover of confirmed business to the relevant operational teams.
  • Monitor customer needs, market trends, competitor activities, and logistics industry developments.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and support service improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, sales pipelines, follow-up notes, and business updates.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, market updates, customer feedback summaries, and revenue forecasts.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while supporting overall business growth objectives.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree approved by the University Grants Commission or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sales, business development, freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Candidates applying at Assistant Manager level should have at least 3 years of experience at Assistant Manager level or in a similar capacity.
  • Executive-level candidates with strong freight sales experience may also be considered.
  • Proven experience in selling Sea Freight and Air Freight services is required.
  • Strong understanding of freight forwarding, logistics solutions, international shipping, and customer supply chains.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and manage customer relationships.
  • Strong business development, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent customer relationship management and account management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to develop and execute sales strategies.
  • Ability to understand customer requirements and recommend practical logistics solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers professionally.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Windows operating systems.
  • Good planning, follow-up, reporting, and coordination skills.
  • Target-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Professional, proactive, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
