Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Back-end Tech Lead to own the execution layer of backend systems and lead the delivery of scalable, high-performance solutions. This role requires a strong technical leader who can architect clean systems, mentor a growing engineering team, and remain deeply involved in coding, debugging, and performance optimization.

The ideal candidate thrives in high-autonomy environments, values execution over bureaucracy, and enjoys turning complex technical plans into reliable, production-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services using Python (Django, DRF) and Rust (Actix, Tokio).

  • Implement and optimize RESTful APIs, asynchronous job queues, and data pipelines.

  • Collaborate closely with AI/ML and IoT teams to integrate telemetry, inference pipelines, and analytics services.

  • Contribute to backend architecture decisions with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Improve system observability through logging, tracing, and monitoring tools.

  • Lead, mentor, and guide a team of backend engineers, ensuring high engineering standards and predictable delivery.

  • Debug complex performance and production issues and drive root-cause resolutions.

  • Ensure backend services are secure, well-documented, and aligned with best engineering practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems in production environments.

  • At least 2+ years in a senior or lead engineering role with ownership of delivery outcomes.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.

  • Working familiarity with Rust and asynchronous systems (Actix, Tokio).

  • Solid understanding of API design, background task processing, and data pipelines.

  • Experience integrating analytics platforms, machine learning models, or real-time data streams is an advantage.

  • Strong debugging skills with a performance-focused engineering mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor and lead technical teams effectively.
